Empathy in the Built Environment: Addressing the Healthcare Needs of Older Adults

Principal, Lisa Tobin, will be joining a panel at the 9th Annual Forum on Healthcare Infrastructure. The discussion will focus on the critical role of empathy in healthcare design, specifically in meeting the unique needs of older adults accessing care.

The panel will explore how empathetic design can improve healthcare spaces, offering real-world examples like the Myrna Daniels Seniors Emergency Medicine Centre, currently under construction at Toronto Western Hospital. From research and policy to project implementation, the conversation will address both the challenges and innovations involved in integrating empathy within the context of a standard-based healthcare environment.

Lisa will be sharing the stage with Lia Tsotsos, Director, Centre for Elder Research at Sheridan College, Sarah Prodor, Architect, Practice Lead, Healthcare at Architecture49 Inc. The panel is moderated by Keith Francis, Associate + Senior Director of Experience Outcomes at Forge Media

Looking forward to a thought-provoking discussion!
