Princess Margaret Cancer Centre

Redevelopment for Canada’s largest comprehensive cancer centre

As Canada’s busiest cancer research and treatment centre, Princess Margaret’s Vision focuses on the global impact of biomedical and healthcare research. Projects such as the Convergence Centre support this highly vulnerable population by creating comfortable and therapeutic spaces for patients in support of the development and trialing of targeted therapeutics. Improved access to care for this growing patient group includes redevelopment of multiple ambulatory clinics including a new Head and Neck Clinic which supports a multidisciplinary clinical team while ensuring a seamless journey for patients and their families.

Critical to innovation in cancer care is the ability to run frequent clinical trials. PMH has the most comprehensive cancer clinical research program in Canada, producing research critical to new drug development, cancer genomics and immunotherapy. With substantial growth in patient volumes, the current space had outgrown program needs.

Cumulus has provided ongoing strategic redevelopment planning at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre (PMCC) since our firm’s inception in 2015. These have included high-level planning initiatives and subsequent internal redevelopment projects undertaken in operational mission critical departments.

Education Centre

With diverse roles in cancer care – from speech and language pathology to rehabilitation, it can be difficult for this breadth of learners to collaborate seamlessly. A new Education Centre at the Princess Margaret is designed for specialized training in one place. Amenities include simulation exam rooms and meeting rooms with video link where staff can watch medical learners in simulation events, study carrels and lots of .

“Learners are very busy, so the convenience of this centre – located right where their learning happens in the hospital – is important to support their education,”
