King Animal Emergency & Referral Hospital
New benchmark for specialized animal care in Canada

King Animal Hospital, set on a 50-acre campus, is the largest facility in Canada providing referral and emergency care for companion animals and equines. The state-of-the-art hospital features surgical, emergency, diagnostic and rehabilitation services.

Precedent Setting Care
King Animal Hospital was born through the philanthropic efforts of the Dog Tales Shelter & Sanctuary, an organization with a deep legacy of continually raising the bar of excellence in animal rescue, rehabilitation, and full-life care. In this spirit Dog Tales set the expectation that this hospital would adhere to the rigorously defined human standards for infection control and care.
Specialised Care for Equine & Small Animals
Specialized equipment including a 1.5T and 3T MRI, the only robotic CT of its kind in Canada, aquatic treadmills, hyperbaric chamber and an indoor rehabilitation arena help set the benchmark for holistic animal care – both small and large.
The hospital includes 12 exam rooms and 7 operating rooms.

Building Capacity
In addition to its role as a centre for excellence in veterinary care, KAH is designed as a teaching hospital, with the goal of ensuring the facility could play a role as one of the pre-eminent centres for veterinary education and research in North America.
Designed to support onsite and remote learning, several ORs and diagnostic rooms include technology to allow treatments to be viewed remotely. An auditorium for knowledge exchange and continuing education supports ongoing mentorship.
