We are incredibly excited to announce that Cumulus Principal and Director Paul Szaszkiewicz has been named a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) Fellowship is considered one of the highest honours in Canada for the architectural profession. Paul is being recognized for his profound contribution to the field of architecture through excellence in design, design management, and innovation.
As a visionary leader, Paul has extensive experience in leading large multidisciplinary designs across Canada. His work includes award-winning designs such as the North Vancouver City Library and Civic Plaza, the Peter Gilgan Centre for Research and Learning at SickKids, the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute at St. Michael’s Hospital, and the Bellini Life Sciences Complex at McGill University. Other notable work includes the University of Toronto Lash Miller Chemistry Building Expansion currently in construction, master planning for Canada’s leading healthcare providers, and P3 pursuits such as the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital, and the Halton Region Consolidated Courthouse. His commitment to nurturing a culture of discovery and innovation has made him a distinguished leader in the field.
Paul co-founded Cumulus Architects in 2015 after decades of working in senior roles within some of Canada’s leading architectural practices. At Cumulus, Paul brings a team-focused approach in his leadership, emphasizing openness and collaboration in his design ethos. His continued guidance has fostered a new generation of architects and has enhanced Canada’s architectural landscape.
Paul is among 41 Fellows celebrated in the 2024 cohort. He will be officially inducted into the College on Thursday, May 16th, 2024, in Vancouver during the RAIC conference.
