Cumulus Congratulates Unity Health on Record Breaking Donation

This week Peter Gilgan, founder and CEO of Mattamy Asset Management, made a record-breaking $60 million donation to St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Toronto’s west end—the largest in the hospital’s history. This gift will fund a new, state-of-the-art patient tower.
Purpose-built to meet the growing and changing needs of the city’s west end communities, the new tower will enhance emergency and surgical care programs, expand mental health services, and provide space for innovation in areas like AI—strengthening SJHC’s ability to care for everyone who comes through our doors—now and into the future.
Cumulus Architects are proud to have been selected to collaborate with Unity Health for the concept design of the new Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower.
“Mr. Gilgan’s generous investment is already sparking change. At the heart of this transformation is the state-of-the-art patient tower that will reshape healthcare delivery in Toronto’s west end. Designed to address the community’s growing and changing needs, the tower will boost emergency and surgical capacity, expand mental health services, and open doors to innovation, including advancements in artificial intelligence.”
