Cumulus Presenting at CCHF in Quebec City

Patsy Poulin will present on the Integrated Campus Plan developed for Unity Health Toronto

Cumulus Principal Patsy Poulin is going to Quebec City to speak at the CCHF BRIDGING GAPS AND SHARING LESSONS LEARNED ACROSS CANADA Conference. October 20th – 21st in Quebec City.

Along with Unity Health Toronto’s Heather Wilhelm, and Tom Parker, Patsy will present:  Integrated Redevelopment & Infrastructure Framework – Lessons from Unity Health Toronto at a session on the 20th at 10:45.

As Canada’s healthcare system evolves toward integrated, patient-centered models, Unity Health Toronto has developed a system-level Multi-Campus Planning Framework to guide long-term redevelopment across its three hospitals: St. Joseph’s Health Centre, St. Michael’s Hospital, and Providence Campus of Care. Spanning more than 3 million square feet and the full continuum of care, the Framework aligns clinical programming, site capacity, infrastructure renewal, and phased investment over a 20–30-year horizon. This presentation explores how distinct master plans were unified into a single roadmap for coordinated system-wide growth, with lessons from diverse urban contexts. The Unity Health model offers a replicable approach to high-performing healthcare redevelopment at scale.

Key Takeaways

  • Understand how clinical programming can serve as the foundation for capital planning across diverse hospital campuses, supporting more integrated, patient-centered care.
  • Learn strategies for unifying multiple pre-existing master plans into a coordinated, long-term redevelopment framework aligned with system-wide goals.
  • Identify approaches to planning and phasing redevelopment across varied urban hospital sites – balancing infrastructure renewal with ongoing operations and site-specific constraints.
